Biden Offers Empty Platitudes During Speech in Georgia

President Joe Biden visited Duluth and gave a speech to several parked cars at a “drive-in rally” Thursday, marking his 100th day in office.

Besides touting the meager success of passing a COVID-19 stimulus, which has been Biden’s only major legislative accomplishment in his first 100 days in office, the subject matter of the speech was rather general.

Here’s what Biden said:

“Folks, it’s only been 100 days, but I have to tell you, I’ve never been more optimistic about the future in America, and America is on the move again. We’re choosing hope over fear, truth over lies, light over darkness. We’re working, we’re working again. We’re dreaming again. We’re discovering again. And we’re leading the world again. And you’re proving democracy can deliver for the people. We just need to remember who we are.”

Biden also discussed his trillion-dollar plan to bolster America’s infrastructure, though it’s unclear what exactly that plan will entail, and bashed the “one percent” for not paying enough in taxes. He did call for free pre-school for three and four-year-olds.

The speech was briefly interrupted by shouting protestors.

The protestors called for Biden to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and could be heard yelling “End detention now.”

“I agree with you,” Biden said. “I’m working on it, man. Give me another five days. There should be no private prisons, period.”

Ending for-profit prisons is a fairly mainstream left-wing issue. But abolishing ICE is a far-left issue, and one which Biden has never addressed. It is unclear whether he plans to move further to the left and consider abolishing ICE, or whether he was simply attempting to placate the protestors with a lie.

Eventually, the protestors were thrown out of the rally.

Biden and the First Lady also visited former President Jimmy Carter, 96, in Plains, Georgia before the rally.
