Former U.S. Senate Candidate Launches PAC to Help Elect Republicans in 2022

A Republican former U.S. Senate candidate from Michigan is launching a Political Action Committee (PAC) with the goal of helping other GOP candidates get elected in 2022.

John James is a West Point graduate, Iraq War veteran and businessman who ran twice for U.S. Senate in Michigan. In 2020, he was barely edged out by incumbent Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) by a 49.6 percent to 48.5 percent margin.

Star News Education Foundation Journalism ProjectAccording to Fox News, the PAC, which launched Wednesday, is called “Mission First, People Always,” keeping with the military veteran and battle themes that were ubiquitous with James’ Senate runs.

“Combat leaders do not get to choose whether they accomplish the mission or bring their soldiers back to base; they are expected to do both. Business leaders do not get to choose whether they satisfy the customer or make payroll; they are expected to do both. Sadly, too few of our political leaders think this way,” James reportedly said in a statement.

James will serve as the chairman of the PAC, and said he will “support candidates who bring this kind of balanced, real world leadership to American government.” He said those candidates “must be bold, stand on our principles, and take action.

“I look forward to supporting candidates who will forge ahead into all corners of America with a spirit of service and sacrifice,” he reportedly said.

James isn’t the first 2020 U.S. Senate candidate to step up as a team player for the GOP’s 2022 efforts.

Last month, former Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) announced her founding of a voter registration group called Greater Georgia, which will be used to counter Democrats’ efforts in that arena in the Peach State.

Loeffler, who was first appointed to her Senate seat by Gov. Brian Kemp (R) lost her high-profile election bid to Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) the state’s January 5 runoff election.

“Our state is greater – and our democracy is stronger – when everyone’s voice is heard, and that’s exactly what Greater Georgia’s work is about,” Loeffler said of Greater Georgia’s voter registration efforts.
