Left Wing Blog Drops ‘Believe All Women’, Says Cuomo Shouldn’t Resign

The far-left blog Virginia Mercury says that New York’s Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo should not resign amid mounting sexual harassment claims from scores of women, because Virginia’s Democrat Governor Ralph Northam survived his own racism scandal.

According to the blog, pursuing and implementing the left-wing agenda is more important than Democrat politicians continuing their charade of signalling virtue on issues like women’s rights and anti-racism.

Here’s what author Bob Lewis said:

Northam, uniquely barred by Virginia’s Constitution from seeking re-election, has proved to be one of the commonwealth’s most consequential governors. He went from being a pariah in the winter of 2019 to helping position fellow Democrats for electoral triumphs that fall that gave them majorities in the state House and Senate for the first time in a generation. Under full Democratic rule, Virginia has reformed its election laws, passed new gun control measures, decriminalized marijuana and approved its eventual recreational use and abolished the death penalty in making historically conservative Virginia the South’s most progressive state.

In other words, as long as the legislative agenda is accomplished, hypocrisy – claiming to be the party of anti-racism and the #MeToo or “Believe All Women” movements – is unimportant.

Cuomo is facing sexual harassment allegations from eight women, including former aides. He is accused of inappropriately touching and kissing, too.

Star News Education Foundation Journalism ProjectAfter the latest allegation, one of his attorneys, Rita Glavin, said “the governor has greeted men and women with hugs and a kiss on the cheek, forehead, or hand. Yes, he has posed for photographs with his arm around them. Yes, he uses Italian phrases like ‘ciao bella.’”

“None of this is remarkable, although it may be old-fashioned,” she continued. “He has made clear that he has never made inappropriate advances or inappropriately touched anyone.”

On several occasions he has flatly refused to resign from his seat, despite high-profile calls for his resignation from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) and even President Joe Biden, who said that Cuomo should resign if the allegations are true. A bipartisan group of lawmakers is seeking to impeach Cuomo.

The sexual harassment scandal comes on the heels of a scandal wherein Cuomo is accused of putting elderly nursing home residents at risk of contracting COVID-19, then covering up the data about how many New Yorkers died of the virus in nursing homes. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating whether he intentionally fudged the numbers or hid them from his aides.
